Caring For The Homestead Becomes A Habit

Caring For The Homestead Becomes A Habit

Oh how we just love looking back – there can’t be many people about who do not relish in the joy of recalling memories from childhood for example.  I can pinpoint exact years and what happened at certain points when I recall particular houses our family had.  Each one was for specific periods and the memories include all the changes to decor, furnishings and fabrics.  We were a service family, so each home meant new experiences and when we were not joining dad on a particular posting, we lived with our grandmother in a comfortably large house and sprawling garden.  Helping to keep this in a good state of repair became part and parcel of our holidays.  DIY skills were honed in quick time – to stop any further rot from appearing or to ensure a job was completed before the next tour of duty commenced.  Good training for house ownership in the future.  Taking care of properties, inside and out has been drummed into our family.  ‘Never leave to tomorrow what might break completely today’ ….is our motto.
